What? In Iceland, we have a festival weekend in August. There are plenty of places you can visit, depending on what you like to listen to. The most popular is the Westman islands "þjóðhátíð", where thousands of people gather in the valley to get drunk and listen to life music at a big stage. Everything outdoors, ofcause. Fjallhalla wants to take you to Isafjörður in North West of Iceland, which has a festival weekend as well. There will be a swamp soccer tournament going on which we will participate in. Time to find a team name already? So what is swamp soccer? Yes it is soccer, but played in mud, which you will get stuck in. You are very lucky if you succeed to score while getting sore muscles in your stomach from laughing so much. It is your own choice, but we recommend you to join us in a team that competes in the swamp football games. Where? The capital of the North west of Iceland, Isafjörður. When? Friday the 1st of August- Monday 4th of August. Is there a schedule? Yes, the swamp football games, and then just a schedule as a festival weekend. You are on your own there or as a part of the group and feel free to do anything you want. We might arrange hikes and even get offers to go kayaking and horse riding. Food? Is at your own cost but we will bring a barbecue and then there are plenty of nice restaurants in Isafjörður town waiting to be explored. Accommodation? We will stay in tents at the campsite in Isafjörður, provided by us if needed. How should I dress? As we are going there to compete in the swamp football, you should bring sports clothes you don´t care about as they will get very dirty and muddy during the games. Then nicer clothes, warm to wear during the evenings, even a bit fancy if you want to go out. Swimming pools? Yes there is a lovely swimming pool in Isafjörður, and in close by towns. Transport? We will provide you with transport from and to Isafjörður, and then there will be buses going to and from the campsite many times a day. You can walk downtown as well, Isafjörður is located in 30 minutes walking distance from the campsite. Any questions? Dont hesitate to contact us at fjallhalla@gmail.com.
