Ghanaian-born musician, singer, performer, and humanitarian activist Rocky Dawuni will grace Reykjavík with his presence as part of the Nordic leg of his “Branches of the Same Tree” tour. His music is an eclectic blend of soul, reggae and afro-beats—all of which add up to a delightfully groovy, infectiously danceable (or headbob-able, depending on how you do), socially conscious musical smorgåsbord. This man is the real deal; check him out. HUGE BONUS ALERT! None other than Icelandic reggae stalwarts AmabAdamA are opening the show!
BLONDE REDHEAD Indie rock veterans Blonde Redhead need no introduction. Formed in NYC in 1993 by vocalist/guitarist Kazu Makino, guitarist Amedeo Pace and drummer Simone Pace, their iconic sound remains relevant 22 years later. They continue to tour internationally, playing shows and festivals the world over; recent highlights include performances in Japan, Coachella in Indio, California, the Zanne Festival in Catania, Italy and the Dour Festival in Dour, Belgium. Blonde Redhead continues to stun with the release of their ninth studio album Barragán, an international success that has spawned hits “Dripping” and “Lady M.” This Winter, the band debuted a sensational remix of the latter by Grizzly Bear’s Chris Bear, the first track from an upcoming release of reworked cuts from the new album. Next up for the prolific band comes music videos, new tours, special events and exciting fashion collaborations from frontwoman and brilliant graphic artist Kazu Makino. Admission fee is 5.000 kronur per ticket.
